New Girl’s Zooey was congratulated yesterday in coming #31 in FHM’s 100 Sexiest Women in the World. It seems that her beauty, style, musical and acting talent is not the only thing that’s been noticed across the world by men and women alike.
Deschanel, 33, was born in Los Angeles California, and first recognised for her role alongside Will Ferrell in Elf. She was later praised for her part as Summer in box office hit 500 Days of Summer, and now plays endearing Jess Day in ongoing American rom-com New Girl. (Today it was announced that Taylor Swift will star alongside Zooey in a one-off episode.)
Aside from acting, she has a passion for music and produces her own alternative tracks individually. She was previously married to Death Cab for Cutie’s Benjamin Gibbard but the couple divorced in 2012. Zooey maintains her ideals that there is a true love out there for her.
Zooey: “Well, I like creative people, so whatever that means… Yeah, authentic and creative.”
- Zooey and Ben, divorced 2012
Deschanel is also part of an Indie duo ‘She & Him’ with guitarist Matt Ward. She has also been known to collaborate with other actors such as co-star in 500 Days of Summer, Joseph Gordon Levitt. (Looper, Batman, 50/50.)
Zooey’s complexion always looks clear, and her skin always looks completely refreshed, so it’s not surprising she was chosen to be one of the faces for Rimmel London – following in the footsteps of models such as Kate Moss and Lily Cole.
Her make-up palette is always natural, but she occasionally wears a thick line of black eyeliner across her top eyelid or some red lipstick to add a little glamour to her fresh-faced look. Since her blonde look in Elf, 2003, Zooey has gone back to her original hair colour and usually maintains the same haircut but always keeps it in top condition, with a perfectly face-framing fringe.
Zooey: “The weirdest compliment I’ve ever received on my eyes was that I looked like an alien — or that I look like a doll.”
- Zooey for Rimmel London
So- onto style. This is where Zooey really excels. Again, maintaining the same style throughout most of her outfits she keeps a cute, innocent and individual look. Vintage tea dresses, little shorts, polka dots, floral patterns, cute prints, peter pan collars, chiffon blouses and cardigans are her ‘staple’ looks.
Where most of us would end up looking like a frump, Zooey manages to make old, recycled clothes look elegant.
- Zooey in 500 Days of Summer
Though her day look is very ‘cutesie’, Zooey knows how to turn on the glamour in the evening by picking a statement colour with a flattering and tasteful feel.
- Oscar De La Renta – Catwalk to Zooey 2013
Through all of the parts of Zooey’s beauty and style, there is still one big thing that makes her stick out from the crowd. She has a reputation for always being herself and being comfortable over her individual personality and style. Her confidence and nature only magnifies her beauty.
FHM on Zooeys #31 place: “Hollywood’s brand-new Queen of Quirk: smart-but-daft, adorable-yet-edgy, sexy-but-approachable. She’s the ideal girlfriend, basically.”

Despite all the recent controversy surrounding Kristen Stewart, one thing that can’t be argued is that she is easily one of the best dressed women to hit the hollywood scene. Well, actually, the best according to the latest poll in Glamour magazine.
Back in 2008, K-Stew hit the big screen as ‘Bella Swan’ in the all famous ‘Twilight Saga’. And although her Twilight wardrobe was some what of a disaster, off screen she wowed people around the world with her unusual style.
Breaking the mould at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards, Kristen turned up on the red carpet wearing a beautiful Yigal Azrouel dress teamed with her scruffy converse. Now she is renowned for swapping the killer heels for something a little more comfortable, and being able to pull it off.
Even off the red carpet, she is admired for her care free image. Usually papped in a plain t-shirt tied in a knot, skinny jeans and the ever famous converse, she still manages to look effortlessly stylish.
Although not particularly known as one for floor length ball gowns, when it comes down to it the girl sure knows how to pull one off. Gowns and catsuits. And why wouldn’t you wear a catsuit if you had those legs?
Showing that you don’t need to smother yourself in fake tan, have dramatic hairstyles and tons of make up to look glamourous, Kristen Stewart well deserves the title of a style icon.

California girl Katy Perry, 28, burst onto the pop scene in 2008 with her promiscuous debut single “I Kissed A Girl”. She grew up listening to gospel music and both her parents were pastors who devoted their lives to their faith, so her controversial image as a popstar is a far cry from her strict upbringing.
Katy’s been nominated for nine Grammy awards and was Billboard’s Woman of the Year in 2012. With numerous hit singles, sell-out world tours and over 30 million Twitter followers under her belt, she has become one of the most influential and successful female stars of our time. As well as her successes, Katy’s also known for her individual kooky style.
She’s one of the few female style icons who is not afraid to stand out from the crowd with her often humorous, fun, bright and sexy outfits. She has described her style as “a bit of a concoction of different things”.
Katy is known for her trademark jet black curls (she’s actually a natural blonde) – which she’s been known to dye purple and pink.
Perhaps one of her most iconic outfits came in 2010 when she released her single “California Gurls”. The video is set in a candy world, similar to Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. This created various confectionery-inspired outfits, the most iconic being her blue wig, cupcake bikini and ‘Daisy Dukes’ (denim hotpants).
Last year she told Parade magazine: “I have a very short attention span, so I’m always experimenting. I like the darker look right now. It seems like I’ve been the candy queen for a long time, and as much as I loved creating that look, I know that if I don’t evolve people might get bored. I’ve been thinking about a new record, and I think that will kind of define the next evolution.”
Controversial, cheeky and cute all rolled into one, Katy Perry certainly enjoys experimenting with style and for that, we salute her!

Twenty years since Jennifer Lopez came on to the r’n’b music scene, she’s transformed from the “Jenny from the block” persona; dressed in tracksuit bottoms, crop tops and big hoop earrings to “J-lo” in Zuhair Murad gowns and diamond studs.
Despite her changing dress sense, Jennifer Lopez has always maintained her gorgeous curvaceous figure, making an inspiration for plus size women and the ultimate style icon.
Since the release of her album “if you had my love” in 1999, J-lo has proven to the world she is a woman of many talents.
She has taken on a diverse range of roles including; acting in blockbuster films like Maid in Manhattan, as a judge on America’s Got Talent and even designing her own range of jewellery for Kohl’s, an American online retailer.
When J-lo walked the red carpet in her full-length, lace gown at the Golden Globe Awards for her latest smash-hit film Parker, earlier this year, every fashion critic classed her as best dressed.
Harper’s Bazaar commented; “Jennifer Lopez looked stunning in a nude Zuhair Murad spring/summer 13 gown boasting ivory embroidery and teamed with side swept waves.”
The more J-lo is in the public eye, the more paparazzi gather around to capture images of her heaps of amazing outfits. It’s not just her red carpet looks which turn heads, she can pull off anything from a smart casual appearance in denim jeans and a blazer to sultry outfits in jumpsuits and leotards.
Further J-lo’s statement; her long-length hair made up of brunette lowlights and golden blonde highlights compliment her bronzed flawless skin. Her make-up artist, Scott Barnes who is also make-up artist to Kim Kardashian, helps J-lo maintain her dewy and exotic look with additions of light coloured eye-shadows and glossy nude lips for a refreshing touch.
Although J-lo has been on and off the Hollywood scene since start of the 21st Century, she is consistently in the media spotlight for her fashion choices. Even after birthing twins, this Latina goddess’ image is as timeless as her work.
Style Icons: Gwen Stefani
As the front woman of ska-punk superstars No Doubt, Gwen Stefani has been known for her style status, as well as her numerous other projects. Not content with fronting one of the world’s biggest alternative bands, Gwen has formed an amazing solo career, has created L.A.M.B, her hugely successful clothing line and has worked for numerous charities, whilst still finding time to be a wife and loving mother to her son, Kingston.
Gwen says of the discovery:
The best and worst outfits from the Oscars 2013
With one of the biggest red carpet events of the year kicking off 2 days ago, we take a look at the best and worst outfits that were showcased at the Oscars!
Brit treasure Adele shows off classic red carpet sparkle in a figure flattering Jenny Packham dress.
Naomi Watts goes for the futuristic look in a stunning silver sequin dress by Armani Prive.
Salma Hayek looks sophisticated in a classic velvet floor length gown with a statement neck.
Zoe Saldana turns up looking stunning in a streamlined gown which really shows off that petite frame.
Heidi Klum’s Julien Macdonald gold gown is gorgeous, but would look a lot better with a more classier approach.
We’re all for monochome, but we’re not a fan of this cape back dress worn by Diane Kruger.
This fairy tale inspired dress worn by Amy Adams isn’t the most flattering.
Helen Bonham Carter once again goes for gothic layering. It would be nice to see her in something a bit more glamorous.
Although her hair and make up look beautiful, red just isn’t your colour Hilary Swank.
